Giant Dandelion

On a recent trip to Juneau we came across a patch of extraordinarily large dandelion blossoms. Where we live they are traditionally about a 6" tall stem and 1/2 -3/4" bud. The ones in Juneau were about 2' tall with a 1-2" bud. They were amazingly hearty and very pretty against the lush green field at Eagle Beach which is north of Juneau along the Glacier Highway.

Great photo. Where I live in Eastern Idaho there is an abundance of those larger dandelion flowers.

My daughter used to have a house in Pocatello. However, I never had the fortune of seeing these there. I guess a road trip is in order again! LOL

Cheers Dennis!

Thanks Joe. They are so pretty and delicate looking. The breeze was blowing at Eagle Beach and the dandelions were blowing too and fro but not ready to release their "parachutes" apparently. :) FYI an eagle flew overhead just as I took the dandelion photo. I had the wrong lens on to properly capture the majestic flyover. A quick point and shoot as he was high and he was fast!

Pocatello is about an hour South of Idaho Falls. If you get there you are welcome to contact me if you want to meet for a cup of coffee, lunch or something.

Darn...I just noticed you are from Ventura County. We should have visited when I lived in Carpinteria.

Dennis,
That would be wonderful! Would love to hook up.

I actually live about 3 miles from the Ronald Reagan Library. Centrally located in beautiful Simi Valley... "Valley of the Winds".

I know exactly where it is as I have been there several times. When Reagan was the Governor and then President I was a deputy sheriff for Santa Barbara County. I was fortunate to be selected on his security team. When he spoke at Earl Warren Showgrounds as Governor and when he visited the Western White House above Santa Barbara I would go up to the ranch as part of the team. He was a great President and a down to earth man who never failed to return a, Good Morning.

You and I have something in common. I retired with 44 years in EMS and was assigned as Reagan's Paramedic team when he visited the library. It was an honor. I was able to get a photograph standing next to his Air Force One parked at Pt Mugu. I was with my engine company for training at the time. Pure dumb luck. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
