I tried one 40+ years ago and found it made moving more difficult, with a bag I could set it down!! my solution was just don't take so much with me , I realized I seldom if ever needed 90% of the contents of the bag/vest.

You get older, you tend to carry less and less, distributed better...the four pockets of my military issue Field Jacket do just fine for chillier days. And I take more pain reliever of choice, to make the drive home more pleasant, whatever my gear carrier may be. Domke makes good stuff!
My vests...a really old Fishing or a Humvee my kids gave me one Christmas will hold an extra lens, 2 water bottles, extra batteries, Memory cards and rain gear. This year, I'll probably buy a vest I can wear over my Down Parka, and keep my batteries inside it. My camera rides on a Peak Design or Black Rapid over the shoulder boulder holder, for a reasonably comfortable day. OpTech makes a good strap or three, too, which I use rarely now since geting the quick-release PD system.

Yes, often but not as much as when I used to carry 20 rolls of film with me.
Got mine from an Agfa Contest. It’s a Domke. A tad heavy.

Know that the Domke Photog Vest has evolved over many generations over the decades. The latest version is Domke strong, but not really heavy IMHO.

Cheers and best to you all.

I suspect that is the case.
Mine is almost 30 years old.

I just went and looked at the latest, and noticed it has pockets on the back. I just checked mine, which I bought used, and lo and behold, mine has the same rear pockets. I’ve been using it for a couple of years and never realized it has pockets on the back, all covered with one large flap! I don’t know how I missed that! Well, now that I know, I’m sure those pockets will get used!

I am not fond of these vests. I can imagine entering an airport or other high security place with one. I have no desire to be tackled by some overzealous TSA agent, handcuffed, arrested only to miss my flight!

If you were going about your business...I assume traveling...and/or looking and behaving respectably, why would you be "tackled by some overzealous TSA agent" not to mention being arrested and handcuffed? An unlikely scenario, even at good old LAX, where I became convinced that no one should have to descend into hell more than twice in a decade!

That said, I like my 20+ year old Gander Mountain fishing vest, and the Humvee Photo Vest my kids got me one Christmas years ago. They have shrunk from hanging in the dark closet! The only problem I found with either is that none of the "larger" pockets will hold my largest lens...9 1/2 inches long. I am in the market for another vest and wonder if the Domke's front pockets are large enough. Hopefully, they will respond to my inquiry. I was at the Arizona Desert Museum some years ago, and saw this fellow with a Domke vest on . It had been dry cleaned and ironed, and he didn't have anything in the pockets. He looked sharp! Me? I will probably look like the Michelin Man!

I have one and have used it many times in the past. Not so much lately, hangs on the back of my office chair. It is a LL Bean, may be a fishing vest but not sure. Had it for 20-25 years. Love it!!!
