This post consists of scanned film images taken back in the 1990's when my photography skills were just developing (and still are!) so please be understanding. The photos were taken at the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton, NY on the St. Lawrence River where they hold an annual boat show with boats in and out of their liquid environment. On alternating years there are pleasure boats and race boats featured.
A "Gentleman's Race Boat" with 8 stacks
A slightly more docile "Gentleman's Racer
"Dancing Bear" a well-known Super Stock of the 1960's, still piloted by its octogenarian owner/builder
Dancing Bear's 392 c.i. Hemi Engine
A rather unique V-drive Planing hull with "Hydroplane" hull modifications
Early Unlimited "Piston-packer" Hydroplane, Season Champion
Inboard Hydro - class unknown
Early Grand Prix boat?
Grand Prix Hydro - "Piston Packer"

Beautiful craft, awesome shots ❤️✨❤️✨❤️
Interesting boats. I can hear the roar of those engines in my head.
Fascinating! I remember seeing some of those boats racing, back in the '60's on ABC's Wide World of Sports. Often, one would become airborne with deadly results. Do these races still take place?

The Unlimited Hydros continue to race on a somewhat reduced schedule. They do not receive TV coverage like they used to and as far as I know they are now all using "Jet" engines - the "Piston Packers" are long gone. The boats themselves have been redesigned with outboard sponsons and large rear wings that have resulted in fewer "blow overs".
Cool boats and cool shots. What scanner did you use? this is not a critique of the shots themselves, just they look a little low res. Maybe the film itself. I don't have much experience scanning film that old.
Awesome looking racing vessels FL Streetrodder.

I use an older model Epson scanner, a V300 Photo Scanner and admittedly don't take advantage of all its capabilities.
