I have large hedgehog feeding stations in the garden and we see the hogs going in and out around 10pm then they run off in the garden. Not too sure how many we have this year but last year we had seven. They are fed a mix of hedgehog and cat biscuits chicken flavour with bowls of fresh water.
This morning I went out to feed the birds, feeders topped up, cat biscuits in dishes and on the ground for all the blackbirds. Saw this little guy out at 9am when he should be curled up fast asleep. On went the gloves and I picked him up, usually they roll in a ball when you approach them but not him, I checked all over for injuries or tics he was fine. Weighed him 780 grams so perfect weight for his size. This time of the year you sometimes see female hogs out during the day looking for food for their babies. I will keep an eye out tomorrow and if he is out will have him checked over by the vet.
Hope you enjoy seeing this closeup of him.

That is an excellent photo of a hedgehog. Well done.
What do you think, how many of these animals would it take to make a fur coat for let's say a 5 foot woman? Any idea? Are hedgehogs used for the purpose of fur coats as are mink, beaver etc.? Is the fur soft or is it coarse? Asking for a friend.
Dennis
Maybe he had a busy night and needed extra nourishment to get through the day.
Nice photograph.

Re: Dennis. Dennis You and your friend should consider that purchasing fur coats results in the deaths of innocent animals. Davidb1789.
