From last fall's road trip. Iphone 13 Pro Max. Muralist Layton Scarbrough.
The mural features Culpeper’s first African American town councilman and owner and operator of Lightfoot’s Grocery Henry Lightfoot, Culpeper’s first African American physician Dr. Elijah Barber, female owner and operator of Boxwood House Restaurant and Motel Ruby Beck, Culpeper’s first African American police officer Roscoe Ford, a Culpeper native and talented baseball player elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006 Joseph Preston “Pete” Hill, the first female police officer in the Town of Culpeper Ella Drumgoole and a single soldier from the United States African American Troops, representing the approximately 120 African American men who left Culpeper to join the Union Army.
A quote from late author and civil rights activist, James Baldwin is also adorned on the wall.
Beautifully done. You really captured the three dimensional appearance of the mural.
Very nice. I've got to get out and take pictures of the murals around here.

Thank you. I really enjoy taking mural shots when we travel. It's interesting to read the back stories on why the mural was created, the artist's background etc. I hope you do get out and about, I would love to see them. A tip,
Sunday mornings are a great time for mural shooting. Most businesses are closed and there a very good chance there won't be any vehicles blocking your shot.
Very well done and chronicled. That’s a great mural with a lot of positive meaning. Thanks for sharing that one. In fact, it’s a great one for sharing on Independence Day.
