We recently attended our granddaughter's high school graduation. In the rush to be on time, I tried to get some posed shots with a decent background out of the wind. Let's just say teenagers are interesting people and sometimes a bit self-conscious about being photographed. This girl is a more willing subject than the others and seems to have a flair for it.

Such an enchanting series with a delightfully charismatic young lady Vicki...
You bonded extremely well with this talent thus were able to showcase her sparkling effervescent personality.

Thank you for sharing Vicki, I always look forward to your lovely portraiture renderings...

I would choose the last crop as the best of the lot... It could be used as a model for such photos... The lighting and detail are excellent and of course her wistful happy face.

The setup could be used as a standard for taking portraits. 1/1250 second... ISO 100, 2.8 f, 24-70mm lens. Wow, that is a fast shutter ! vicksart, what was your lighting setup?

Thanks so much for the very kind and thoughtful reply. Yes, the shutter was much faster than probably necessary. I let the camera choose as I experimented with aperture to blur some of the background details. Most of the staging was intuitive using natural light. The sun was low to the left, the wind was blowing quite a bit, and I had her stand in front of a neighbor’s shaded doorway. Guess it worked. I liked it the look and plan to try this arrangement (or something similar) again. Maybe someday I’ll graduate to more sophisticated and controlled lighting. We’ll see. 😀
