Grew up in Pennsylvania, and that’s the state bird. Hunted a lot with my dad, uncle, and cousin, and saw my share of them and always thought that they were a pretty bird. Even more so when seen like you captured this one! Excellent shot!

Great catch! Like Grunt, I used to hunt them with my father. I knew they could fan out their tail feathers like a turkey but I didn't know they could do the same with neck feathers. I'm also impressed you knew enough to call them "Ruffed" instead of "Ruffled" as most people do.
