https://www.washingtonpost.com/obituaries/2023/05/06/menahem-pressler-pianist-indiana-beaux-arts-trio-dies/He was one of the few.
I was only fortunate enough to attend one of the trio's performances in person and it saddened me. It was their last scheduled appearance in 2007, the year before they disbanded. The reason that I was saddened was that it was obvious that they were exhausted at the end of a long season. Their playing was not up to their usual standard. It was better than many of the small ensembles that I have heard in person and on recordings, but not as good as they were even during the last few years of the group. Pressler did continue playing, both recording and as a soloist, after the trio disbanded.
Sad news, the end of a wonderful era!
It's good we had him for as long as we did.
