Tin foil is more effective. It blocks almost everything.

Perhaps we can accommodate both views in this quote from Dr. Christopher Baird from Texas A&M:

“ Gravity is indeed a real force, but not in the traditional sense. In other words, gravity is not a direct, classical, action-at-a-distance force between two objects. However, in the broader sense, gravity is indeed a force because it describes the resulting interaction between two masses. Gravitational effects are fundamentally caused by the warping of spacetime and the motion of objects through the warped spacetime. However, the end result is as if a force was applied. Therefore, the most accurate approach would be to call gravity an "emergent force," meaning that what looks like a direct force is actually emerging from more fundamental effects (the warping of spacetime). With this in mind, it is perfectly reasonable to call gravity a real force.”

Thanks for providing an interesting perspective on gravity as an emergent force as a function of space-time. Also need to take into consideration the grand unification theory which views electro-magnetic, strong and weak nuclear forces and gravity as manifestations of a single force which combines them all. (almost sounds like Star Wars here). On the other end of the spectrum, the Big Bang is thought to have arisen from a singularity and exploded with tremendous force and the only thing that existed was energy. As it cooled, gravity is thought to be the first force to emerge followed by the other forces at a later time. This is all happening over incredibly small periods of time i.e. 10 to the minus 35 and smaller seconds. I have no idea whether space-time emerged with gravity or emerged first followed by gravity. I'm content to be fascinated by speculations of others who specialize in this stuff.
