My wife is trying to make a short video that includes a slideshow of family photos in it also. Tried NX studio but it doesn't support video other than Nikon camera types. Nothing fancy hopefully with a short learning curve. Free. Lol. Thanks folks for any help you can give.

If only you had a Mac... iMovie comes free with every new Mac and makes wonderful slide shows and videos. You can add titles, effects, transitions, and mix video and stills with music and sound effects. It integrates with the Mac Photos library and with GarageBand, a recording and music production application. Photos and GarageBand are also free with every Mac.
Fast Stone Image viewer is free, has simple editing functions, handles videos and will create slide shows. An excellent program for windows and it's free.

I use Shotcut a full featured free open source video editor with lots of YouTube video tutorials. https://shotcut.org
I used wevideo for photos and videos of my daughter's volleyball team. You could add a soundtrack and subtitles on top of the images. It's quite easy to use. Not sure of the price since my school board purchased the access. Eric
