Jim, were you wiped out by Katrina, or did it hit further west of you?

Katrina hit in 2005. I was living on the beach in Long Beach Mississippi. That storm took everything I owned except my car at the time. Where I live now also suffered considerable damage. Jim.
I was visiting my parents in New Orleans several days before it hit the city. I left two days before the warnings began. They lived on the river in Harrahan and didn’t have any damage.

I am grateful for them. The eye of the storm came in around Waveland Mississippi. Everybody on the southeast side of Katrina got the worst winds and tidal surge which was around 30 feet. Katrina taught me a valuable lesson that material things are not important. They can be taken away in a matter of hours by some natural disaster. I work with a young lady at the courthouse here in Biloxi who was a young girl when Katrina hit. Her parents put her up in a large Oak tree to ride out the storm because the tidal surge took their home out to sea.
I had an uncle and aunt who lived in Lakeview during Katrina and they ended up having to cut a hole in their roof after they were stranded up in the attic and the water reached the attic. They ended up grabbing a door that was floating by in the water and using that to float about a mile to solid ground.
Hurricanes are NOT fun! Lived in Slidell, Louisiana for Katrina.

Don. That would put you at or very near the eye wall of the Hurricane. I bet that was some ride. Glad you made it thru the other side. Jim.
