Hummingbird Nestlings Update...

The nest I have been watching on the Comal River in New Braunfels, Texas, contains two rapidly developing nestlings tended by a female -- it is definitely getting crowded in the nest. In the past week the nestlings appear to have developed to the point where they are both fully feathered. Today I observed the larger nestling consistently peching on the side of the nest exercising its wings (see photo #3 below). My guess is that they will both fledge very soon and abruptly leave the nest. According to the Cornell website, they will stick near the nest as they practice flying and feeding techniques while the female will continue to feed them for about a week. We shall see! Here are a few photos from my visit this morning.
