Taken with a smart phone from about 50 feet, hand held, while I leaned against the doorway for support.

The phone is last year's model...magnification 100X. It looks great on the phone...not so much here.

What model IPhone did you use? Was this taken at the Optical zoom limit or did you increase the range by using Digital zoom.
I'm not a fan of the tele lens on my IPhone 13 Pro Max.

Thanks for asking.

I have never been an Apple fan...just my bias.

I used a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. The distance to subject was far to great for any phone optical zoom, and even many conventional camera zooms. It is definitely digital zoom, software enhanced.

Personally, I don't care if an image was generated using a mechanical/electronic device or software alone, as long as I have some control, and the result is pleasing.

It is amazing to me how far phones have come in recent years and with the advent of AI, I fully expect this to accelerate. I can hardly wait.

I had the same question as Fstop12 did. I suspect that it won’t be long before smartphone manufacturers will be incorporating software that results in digital zoom producing sharp images. At least one could hope. I don’t like the digital zoom on my iPhone 13 Pro Max either.

Nice job. Great results with a digital zoom. I was always a camera guy used the phone for making calls only. Then got a new i phone 14 pro and now I use that more then my camera. It is not only the Apple but the Android are just as good. Today went to the Alligator Farm in Saint Augustine, Florida and only took my cell phone. Felt a sense of freedom. Did not down load the photos yet but hope they are as good as they look on the back of the screen. again great job one to be proud of.

Thanks.

I own a Sony A1, 100-400 and 70-200. Other than capturing birds in the yard, I use the phone. I expect that within one or two new iterations I'll retire my conventional gear. Hope I last that long.

It’s as good as many of the focus that I see on this forum.
