Beautiful Statues from a bye-gone building.
Wile staying in Las Vegas during June of 2008, yea there was a woman involved and my best friend worked there so I had a couple of places to stay. While walking down 'The Strip' I saw this older casino, which is no longer there. I cannot recall the name, something like The Montenegro or ? Anyway I thought they were just beautiful so I did what I always do. Take some pictures of course. I had a Canon PowerShot SX100 IS, just a pocket camera but hey.
The first image was F/2.8, 1/60 sec. ISO-125.
The other three are ISO-200. F/3.5.
Pulled from by backups. I hope they are preserved to be appreciated somewhere. I would like to know.

Thank you Joe, I Wanted to share them.

I believe this statue is a modern version of the famous ancient story of the young man Daphnis with his beloved Chloe, first reported by the ancient writer Theocritus. The French composer Ravel composed wonderful music for a ballet "Daphnis and Chole".

Oh thank you. This is good to know. The pictures posted here look a bit flat or smooth. They looked a lot better when I was there.

Pictures made without a tripod and appropriate settings look good when small but betray their faults when magnified.
When shooting without a tripod, make sure not to shake the camera and also increasing the shutter speed to at least 1/500.

WOW!! Thanks for that bit of background info...I was scratching my bald head trying to think of the origin!!
That was the Monte Carlo Casino and hotel. We stayed there. It was a beautiful place. It is now the Aria. When I showed my brother the photos I took, he thought that I was actually in Monte Carlo.
BTW, I like your photos.
