Playing with technology.
We all know modern cameras have advanced technologies that make our lives as photographers easier. I use Olympus mirrorless cameras and although I am not a technical guru I decided to try a feature Olympus has called Scene Mode. In Scene Mode the camera shoots according to different settings, I selected Sunset. I saw the scene with the beautiful colors from my front porch and I decided to record the colors in these two images. Nothing fancy, nothing to be proud of but I was very pleased with how easy technology can do our photography.
The images, as to be expected, are original JPEG files. The camera sets the parameters for shooting and the software makes the image. I did not add colors or modified the images in any way except to add a small amount of sharpness. I did not see bands in the sky or artifacts but if you do please let me know. With both images I used center weighted metering and with the first shot I metered from the bright area BUT did not do any correction to render the highlights as a middle tonality and add to the mood. Both images straight out of the camera except for the slight sharpening in post.
We had a rainy and stormy day here In Miami yesterday but it cleared up by the evening and at sunset I saw the beautiful colors and was compelled to record them...playing with technology.
In post I played with canvas size, added the frame and added the letters. All a lot of fun and the best part, not much time spent in post. In my humble opinion the camera by itself did an excellent job.
What do you think of technology?
Olympus EM-10 Mk II
"Plastic Fantastic" 40-150 f4-5.6 set to 150mm, 300mm equivalent with full frame.
I use an old Photoshop version or the old version of Affinity Photo.

Love the colors and the results! You still had to compose the photos…well done.
Nicely done William - beautiful sunsets!
Thank you all for the kind words. I was not shooting to make enlargements or to hang them in an exhibition, I was just playing with the built-in technology and it indeed amazed me...and this is old technology already.
I have not used the Program Mode in a while and to be honest, I don't even think the camera will follow such a shooting mode because when set to a specific Scene the software in camera will do what it was programmed to do. It reproduced the colors as I saw them.
I just imagine how many of you are doing with the new technologies in more modern cameras. AI now seems to be here to stay.
It is a different world now than the one we had when we were shooting film.
