I was driving back towards home from Wabasha on the Highway and saw something. I hit the brakes and did a U-Turn, pulled off on the shoulder across from the birds, and pulled out my camera.
I was surprised to see two immature SandHill Cranes on the shoulder of the road. I shot off about 20 photos before they hid in the dense foliage.

I was happy getting these shots.

Hope you enjoy them.

Thank you Mike. It was lightly raining, and traffic was busy but I didn't want to miss my chance

Always fun to get decent shots of these guys. Just curious, not really knowing, why do you think these are immature birds? With the head coloration, I would have thought they were adults.

Thanks,
From what I've read on "all about birds" immature have more rust color on their body's and head. I'm not an expert. But the adults I've seen have less rust color
