Another composite from a local pirate day. Your critique is appreciated.

…this is excellent…would make a great advertisement for a renaissance fair…they look like a scurvy bunch so I’m not necessarily looking to hang out with them but I would go see them in “Pirates of Penzance…?”

I like this! I really think that the tall ship on the right side is clear enough to identify, but not so much to draw attention away from the crew.

Many thanks! They’re a happy bunch - and quite friendly! They all enjoy themselves even if a bit too much rum flows at times.

Nice! From the title I did not expect much since I usually do not like these sorts of things. But yours is some how different an I like it. But it could have used a live Parrot.

Thanks Vaun. The ship was back in 2016 whilst visiting another pirate festival - it’s a Russian built replica. I’ve used it as ‘supporting cast’, to give the feel of things.

You’re right - and there was one, I just forgot to add her in - I’ll use it in my next composite! Thanks for commenting, glad you like it.

Another excellent result, David! You are expert using the pirate theme.

Thanks Mike. They sort of make life easy as they’re so well presented! Once you get shot of the modern world around them you’re more than halfway to something reasonable. And they’re fairly simple composites too, which helps. You’re going to have to put up with one or two more yet as I told them I’d do something with their pics!

Great details, light, poses - a very engaging result!

Question: what is the round-headed alien with green eyes doing in upper right corner?

I thought he looked quite friendly Linda! I think it’s the result of overcooked blending - probably of the ship/pier image. It’s probably something that’s difficult to control and may require a bit of a rehash up in that corner.

He does look benevolent; nothing for our crew to worry about

The theme brings to mind:

Ho ho ho, bring a bottle of rum
Ho ho ho, cream and whiskey bourbon
Ho ho ho, bring a bottle of booze
We got nothing to lose, ho ho ho…
