No problem with mine, but I'll send it in just in case.

Did you check your serial number to see if your's is affected?

A Zip Lock storage bag is a plastic bag. Though to go out and buy a box just for one use is overkill, maybe you could get one from a neighbor.

There are rolls of plastic bags in the produce department. If you had a healthier diet, you would know that !

Yes, but storage bags are thicker, more protective, and longer lasting than the thin store produce bags. The store produce bags are more likely to puncture and/or tear than storage bags.

True dat but for an in-the-box moisture barrier produce bags are perfect. If you want a "tote bag", then acoarst you will use a tougher bag. (I would double bag anyway if shipping with produce bags.)

Yeah, I guess there's not much of a choice.

I hate those plastic bags. They are so weak that cotton balls would break through them. I use two or three at a time when I need them.

They are less than 1/2 mil thick.

I like sweet potatoes, but putting them into one of those bags, I might as well try to fill a bag with arrows. I have to search for sweet potatoes that don't have pointy ends.

IF it ain't broke don't F### with it,

Right -- besides you have a year to test it. Also, the recall is limited to just a small number of the cameras and they have a range of serial numbers to go by. If your camera isn't in that series, don't send it. You could be liable for shipping expenses if it falls outside the series and a bench fee of around 125.00.

What's wrong with the Z8, you just got it?

There’s a {partial} recall.

As I understand it, Nikon will pay for the packing if you take it to a UPS store, pick up the freight and insurance.

Correct. I can also give it to a UPS driver. I'll probably do that on Wednesday when I receive a delivery.

I read somewhere to select Z9…they’re just looking for the correct weight for the shipping label. And my guess is that pretty much every Z8 in the first couple of batches is in the potentially affected group…haven’t seen my forum post where the user’s wasn’t affected.

Have any of you printed the mailing label yet? I cannot select the Z8. The closet match is the Z7, but I don't want them to return a Z7 to me.

I think it's interesting that they say to pack it in a plastic bag. Really? And where would I get one? We haven't had them in NY in years. I have lots of bubble wrap, so I'll use that.
oh geese the repair address is the same for all the cameras. Just make sure you include the return authorization inside the box and your address inside as well.

Use a gallon size Zip Lock bag.

If you’re really worried you can sent the camera to me I will drive it to the repair place for you. But you might get a slightly used Z7 back.
