2 Pictures - 1 works best with Remove Tool, the other works best with Generative AI

Two cases here. Both have a fence to remove.

Case 1: Fence is very visible and is entirely up front. Very easy to use the Remove Tool and make it go away. In trying it with Generative Tool by placing a selection around the entire fence, it certainly makes the fence go away. But it also takes the liberty to retwist and change the dead branches of the tree. The Remove Tool provided the best solution in this case.

Case 2: There is fence in front of the tree and more fence behind the tree. Weeds are tall and we see the fence in places and not in other places. Using the remove tool was difficult finding all the fence pieces and in places the tool forgot what it was removing. In using Generative tool, it was done in 3 passes: First, the entire front fence. Second, left side fence behind the tree. Third, the right side fence behind the tree. Finally, a few spot removals as there were a few spurious branch pieces added by Generative Fill that didn't look right, so I removed them. For this case, the fence was sometimes so well hidden, or partially hidden, that the reconstruction provided by Generative Tool proved the better way to go. The fact that some of the weeds changed didn't matter. They looked natural.

Horses for courses - I guess we will all get used to taking the sort of decisions you describe here. So far I’ve not delved into AI generated pictures as they hold no interest for me - but Generative Fill is another matter. What you’re demonstrating is the sort of thing we are all likely to need at some point. A very useful post, many thanks.

A helpful reminder of something we sometimes forget: in certain images, the established PS tools can outperform the newest PS tools.
