KODAK DIGITAL ROC

Help! I have 1000s of old faded slides and prints that I need to recover. I was using Kodak Digital Roc on an
old Windows 7 computer and PhotoShop CS5. My computer tech man said I need to hook it up and get updates. Well. I did, and the next time I tried to use Digital Roc, it didn't work. I'm hoping someone out there would have
an old Windows7 or even Window XP computer they'd part with that might have PhotoShop with the Digital ROC Plug in. Naturally I'll pay you for the computer (desk top or Lap Top) and pay for shipping. PLEASE.

You need a Windows 7 or Windows XP because of CS5 or because of Digital ROC plug in? Can you get a Windows 11 computer and subcribe to CC and use the Digital ROC plug in?

I'm guessing that your update has installed the 64bit version of Photoshop. Your plugin is for 32bit only.
Try re-installing your version of Photoshop as the 32bit version and install your plugin into that version.
You can have the 32bit version and the 64bit version as separate installations on the same machine and can have separate shortcuts to both on your desktop.

I wonder what kind of update the tech made? Windows Update or PS Update?

Why the fixation on remaining behind the time, especially with your computer... I updated 6 years ago and it still handles AI programs well. In $ are a problem... perhaps a friend will let you clean up your scans stored on a USB drive... and once polished saved on the same drive with new suffix.

There are many edit programs that will take Topaz plugins. I have used DeNoise AI, Sharpen AI, and adjusted color and contrast with Topaz Clarity [or use Topaz Studio 2]. It is amazing that a photograph of a 50y old photo can be brought to live with these simple AI tools. Now looks better than the photo.

My base editor is Painshop Pro 2023, but for free you can get ... a list of free edit programs:

Best of luck saving your historic slide memories of a time long gone.

Well I hope the OP gets back and give us some information. I think the problem with the OP is having to do with licensing. Generally when you buy CS5 and Digital ROC you would have CD or the files you downloaded from the website when you bought them. You can then install them on a computer but I don't think you can license either software any more as both Adobe and Kodak no longer support those software.

I still have Kodak Digital Roc on my old version of Photoshop but when I try to use it, I get a message that it is no longer registered. I've tried downloading it again, and the same thing happens. There is no one that supports it.

OK so it lost the registration( licensing) and thus you're out of luck. Kodak said they won't register(activate, license) the software any more since 2019.
Can you tell me what kind of update that you (or the tech did)? I wonder if it's possible to go back to a previous date. Windows tends to save the restore point when you do an update. The update messed up the license file somehow.

Unless you have an old system drive backup that includes 32-bit Ps and ROC, forget it… ROC, GEM, and SHO (and Digital ICE), all from Applied Science Fiction (bought by Kodak years ago) are all ABANDONWARE. A few modern alternative approaches have been mentioned here.

A good alternative for restoring color in slide and print scans is VueScan from Hamrick Software. Here is a blog about that:
