When these clouds are a little lower in the sky they are a glider pilot's dream, and if there are any glider pilots on here they will know what I mean! The second photo is a classic 'stairway to the heavens'.
Well done. Fantasric clouds.

I wish to thank everyone for looking and commenting. We have so few clouds in SoCal, I hoped I had not over reacted. It’s nice to see I’m not the only cloud lover.
A some already know, Lenticular clouds are stationary clouds, formed when air flows over the mountains and creates a standing mountain wave condition. In this case a Sierra Mountain Wave condition. It is much like when water in a stream flowing over a rock creates a standing wave in the stream. The mountain wave carries moisture up above the dew point where it condenses, and then back down, giving the cloud the long slender lens shape. As noted here, glider pilots love have used mountain waves to set altitude records. As also noted they can be a harbinger of turbulence as anyone who has flown into Reno on a windy day will attest. It can be very “bumpy” air.
Almost looks like space crafts...
