Sometimes, I go to great lengths to find the story behind the subject I'm shooting. In this case, I went into a old gas station ( itself a future subject ) about a half mile from this site. Man, they knew everything.
One of the largest farmers in their area was behind it. However , he was bit of a cantankerous individual. He had trouble keeping help and he continually irritated the biggest buyers for his crops. His volume of business suffered. Undaunted and thinking he was an astute businessman, he built the building shown here to sell his own produce. He lasted less than a year. Nobody that knew him wanted to go near his place....and those that did, disliked him enough that one stop there was enough for them. He closed down the building...never opened again.
His next scheme was to take an old wagon he had, dress it up with a little booth, and drag it around to gatherings of various sorts to sell his stuff. That venture didn't even last 3 months. He found out he wasn't welcome anywhere. He sold all of his property and left the area. Nobody knew for sure where he went, but the folks at the gas station thought it was somewhere in Alabama.

Thank you for looking in. It's not always that I can get such a good history of my targets.

Pretty setting, interesting subject, excellent story line! Excellent illustration of "It pays to be nice", and "shooting your self in the foot", among others.
