Is Nikon going to quit repairing DSLR and only repair their Z lenses and cameras
They are not introducing any new DSLR. They may stop production of DSLR already although they still sell them. Eventually they will stop servicing DSLR too. They will also stop servicing early model of the Z cameras like the Z6/Z7 at some point. It's normal.
Eventually. Every product loses support sooner or later, especially when spare parts are no longer available. But with regards to their most current DSLRs and F mount lenses, that could still be years away.

Yes. But, no formal announcement date of when.
Many hobbyists like me use dSLR cameras. I know, because I predicted the end of the dSLR about 6 years ago, that eventually mirrorless will take over the photo industry. I am using old Olympus mirrorless cameras but I go to my dSLR pretty often.
I believe Canon is no longer manufacturing dSLR cameras and like Nikon both companies are now more into mirrorless than any other cameras. The market right now is mirrorless.
Canon and Nikon, at the beginning of the introduction of mirrorless bodies kept on working with cameras previously designed for film to make them dSLR while companies like Olympus began to manufacture their mirrorless from the bottom up. We all know it took Canon and Nikon several years before they introduced those cameras and I am really surprised that in such a short time both companies are producing mirrorless bodies of such advanced technologies that are selling so well. The fact that Nikon, the company I am more familiar with, is introducing more new Z lenses is telling me that sooner than later the dSLR camera will stop production, if it has not stopped already. It is easy to understand that perhaps both companies will repair the new dSLR models for a few years but that eventually will stop. It is a sign of the times.
In the meantime I will continue to use what I have and enjoy. Who knows, maybe dSLR cameras that were not affordable for me in the past with the new trend will be more affordable than ever....although I am not so sure I will buy them.

All major camera manufacturers except Pentax have apparently adopted Sony's policy of supporting the current model and the most recent previous model in each product line. This means, as an example, that when the Z8 was introduced, support ended for the D810. The Z8 and the D850 are the two supported models in the "8" line. My guess is that this means there will no longer be official "end of support" announcements.
I have not tested to see if this is actually true. I do not know if my D810 is no longer supported. But I was told the same story by two of my local camera stores, both of which are authorized Nikon dealers.
It's not the tools folks it's the skill of the Carpenter that matters...
It is a poor Carpenter indeed that blames his tools for want of excellence.
BTW... Some folks strive to create their persona by the perceived retail worth of their current kit...
While those who shoot commercially know full well that their clients are impressed primarily by the quality of imagery of their deliverables... Form my experiences on UHH there seems to be a compelling need by hobbyist to seek validation from their UHH peers through their choice of camera platform vendor... Something I find totally lacking on flickr... go figure...
By far and away the very best investments I've made on my career journey is in enlisting the finest talent to collaborate with i.e. Hairstylist, Makeup Artist, Wardrobe Stylist and Lighting Assistants in my marketplace... Many of whom will provide their services and priceless expertise in exchange for the breathtaking imagery which Test Creatives can (and often do) produce.
I rarely ever have clients ask me about my kit...
While I virtually always have requests for references from former clients.
Maybe rethink establishing your persona from your kit and focus more on providing an exceptional Collaborative Team for your sessions. This has worked extremely well for my efforts albeit your results may be different..
Thoughts on Commercial Photography?
Your worth, credibility and professional reputation depend not only on your ability to create breathtaking publication quality imagery unrivaled by your competitors but also your ability to nurture and assist in development of other aspiring talent emerging within the industry.

At some point YES. They don't repair anything past a certain age, so at some point older Z products will not be repaired.
I'm guessing this is good for 4-5 pages.

Its funny you would ask in that way.
Discontinuance of repair is basically a numbers game, not connected to the viewfinder system on various models.
What I am asking is I have a 610 and 850 do you think they will still repair these for a couple of years

The D850 will be repaired until the Z8ii is introduced. I do not know that the D610 is still supported. I suspect not, since the Z6ii is the current model in the "6" line. Best way to know for sure is to call NikonUSA and ask them. You can also make the same inquiry via their website,
www.nikonusa.comBut they don't know exactly when new models will be introduced and probably won't give you any guesses about the future.

The D610 might be finished, or maybe soon will be. Really cant be very exact about such stuff. If this is costing you significant sleep apply for SS Disablity.

Try calling Nikon. They might be able to give you a rough idea.

Rather than meaningless hearsay... I actually had a Nikon D3x serviced by Nikon USA recently.
Top Tier (Level 3) Maintenance & Cleaning. They did a fantastic Job! Very Pleased...
I've noticed an alarming amount of misinformation on UHH.
Especially when it comes to Nikon's Service and Support.
Much of the posted "
information" is simply not valid.
UHH has little if any credibility left in my minds eye.
Are you a Commercial Photographer?
If so here is valid authoritative information (Nikon's Terms and Conditions of Service)
https://www.nikonpro.com/TermsAndConditions.aspxAlthough you must meet Nikon's Support Criteria
Bottom Line? Nikon is still providing Service and Support for both my D3x Pro Bodies and I've been extremely pleased with the quality of service and timely turnaround.
It's on you to determine if your Nikon camera model and serial number qualify...
And if you qualify for Nikon Professional Services.
That said if you are truly interested in discovering what it takes to work at the zenith of the Commercial Photography Industry, then please consider purchasing a flickr Pro membership...

Last time I checked you had to be a professional photographer to qualify for Nikon Professional Services. I believe that would exclude most of us on UHH. Since they dropped the 5 year warranty and have no Authorized service centers, that leaves little choice for those of us.
I still like their products and will continue to use them.
