As everyone is trading in/selling for the new mirrorless cameras and lenses,
Why are these being bought up?

If they don't have boxes, not the savvy shoppers, that's for sure.

Bargain seekers. Listen, the mirrorless revolution is quite something (I'm in, for one), but I assure you that DSLRs remain perfectly excellent photographic equipment. The rush to mirrorless has created a boon to the used DSLR market -- great equipment, fantastic lenses, all at bargain basement prices. Smart, budget-conscious buyers, that's why.

There will never be a better DSLR than those you can still buy today.

Lets not forget the beginners that will now have very capable equipment giving top notch image quality to encourage them to keep learning.

In my case, I have, in the past, sold 2 cameras to recent converts from cell phones.

Resold DSLR equipment will find many homes. Lenses will never die and can be barely improved upon for many uses. Most cameras will be consumed by entry level photographers or pros who don't need or like aspects of newer cameras.

I use DSLRs for work since they are more expendable in extreme environments and there is nothing the ML offer that I need for work. ML are actually a downgrade in some cases.

I remember when I sold many of my used lenses slr and early dslr's very quickly here on UHH.
I thought really. Aren't UHH'ers more sofisticated and buy top gear?

There is a carefully crafted illusion here that the only real cameras are those from the most current generation of products. If you venture out into the real world, even if only a little bit, you will learn that illusion is quite far from the truth.

That same little adventure will also reveal far more interesting and compelling photographs than most that you see here. Be careful what conclusions you draw from within limited horizons.

When the new models ended, DSLRs passed into legend. And mirrors became myth. And by 2023 only those with the longest beards could remember a time when photography was limited by mirrors.

You said it perfectly clearly on page one, but this topic should hit 10 or 20 pages full of traditional UHH drivel.

SUCH BLASPHEMY !!! Limited horizons and siloed thinking are the very core of UHH Sacred Tradition.

Excellent points. My reasons exactly.

I don’t understand the importance of the box. Can you explain?

Mirrors = mirror slap. The industry held on to mirrors for as long as possible in order to sell expensive anti-blur software. That's how the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. What is the point in more expensive lenses when the pics will be spoiled by mirror slap?
