iMac with M1 chip

That said, I have an M1 MacBook Air with 16GB memory and 1TB of storage. It FLIES through Photoshop and Lightroom. Battery life is insane... I have never run out during a day. I charge overnight and unplug in the morning, and it just runs. It does not slow down on battery like laptop PCs. I connect peripherals with a hub and a 27" LG USB-C monitor that powers the computer when needed.

There will always be a better machine on the horizon! If the originator needs to upgrade now, the current crop of Macs have all the oomph all but the most demanding user will ever need. Just be sure to get a med-large SSD (2-4 TB) and plenty of RAM (I have 128GB) on my M1 Mac Ultra.
