I'm in the UK, and never contributed to this section before ..... but was not giving my full attention to the sport on the tv (rugby) and my attention wandered to the evening sky ..... so I took a few pictures from my window ..... you may critique to your heart's content......

Tree in its "last throes"

Hi Dan,

Thanks for this - I don't have a great view from my window, just that tree close by. The rest of the immediate landscape is hardly worth a mention. But the sun was just right, and the clouds to the south-west were being caught by the setting sun. In 25 minutes it was all gone !! I just looked to see where Virden is in Illinois. It doesn't look to be a very big place, but I'm sure that, if not right by your window, you've got trees nearby, and skies that are tinged by beautiful sunsets. The leaves were shot with a 70-200mm lens at f2.8, so the background didn't matter. I guess we just have to keep our eyes open for what's around us ! I was in Chicago three times. Not exactly next door to you, but just "up the road" a little. Enjoyed those trips. Kind regards.

Thanks logos ..... I just checked to see where Chula is ...... small place in southern Georgia. Well I guess you too have trees and cloud formations that you can capture when the sun is right. We just have to keep our eyes peeled - and have a camera close at hand. I was at home ... so this time it all worked ! With kind regards ......

Both sun rise and set are blocked by houses, other than that things are wide open around my house. All flat farm ground around here, but I don't have to go far to find things to shoot. I did want to be sure that you did not think Chicago is anything like the rest of the state, dead people down state do not vote. Virden is about 2500 people and 175 years old, this is farming and was a coal mining area. It is home and that is good enough.

Thanks for your honest comment. And me ? I much prefer the open country, preferably with a few hills and mountains to break up the terrain, to big cities. They just "sprawl" too much. Take care, and enjoy your own home area.
