Keeping the horse theme going

My Granddaughter had another "horse event" this weekend so I decided to use it to keep my eye and reflexes in shape since football is only a few short months from starting up.

Fabulous pivotal moments all... Stellar acuity in the downloads! Vibrant color harmonies latent within...

Such a vast array of wardrobe styling with the requisite "Red River Horse Show Association" cotton T's...
Guess those come from registration and entry fees?

Thinking those ladies made some absolutely superb choices with color coordination i.e. Green sleeveless T's for Auburn Tresses and Red short sleeves for (medium reddish tan) Chestnut Tresses.

However those epic Cowgirl Boots Totally Rock! And I see that Torn Denim is the rule not the exception.

Remarkable series of compelling moments... And those young ladies seem to be having way too much Fun!
Your a lucky man to have a granddaughter to provide Lifestyle Editorials for... I'm certain they all will cherish your imagery as time goes by... precious moments indeed!

Thank you for sharing your craft ivycreek... you're a master of the medium...
Looking forward to more of our stellar efforts!

Those are great captures of the barrel(?) turns. Wish I were able to capture them like that. Out here, they are under a large permanent tent, so there are issues with capturing the event.

"...they are under a large permanent tent..." Been there lbrande and it was bordering on a disaster with illumination ranging from poor to non-existent... You actually had to be in the venue for at least a few minutes until your eyes adjusted to "Night Vision" before you could figure out even what was happening.

No way would I ever think of using speedlights so close to those horses... Could spook them and cause them to throw their riders... That was one event I just had to walk away from... Sometimes Folding is the wisest choice especially when using "flash" might place the riders in harms way. Horses can be (and sometimes are) rather unpredictable in challenging environments... Use of constant "hot" lights may have been the only "safe" choice in this scenario in my humble estimation.

Thank you Thomas! I'm not entirely sure the T-Shirts are mandatory. If it's anything like the hockey tournaments I took my son too it was something that they were always selling that every player always wantedto purchase and then wore all around town all weekend. Heck we never had to buy him a hoodie for back to school because he had so many from tournaments all winter and summer

Yes sir they are the barrel turns and none of the riders really seemed to be taking them tight on this day. Can't imagine the races being under a tent. Sounds like high ISO territory, one of the reasons I beat myself up so bad when shooting HS basketball trying to figure out how much shutter speed I'm willing forsake to lower the ISO.

I shot my daughter's and son's hockey tournaments for years. I asked the resident pro how he got such great shots and he then took my camera and showed me the settings for each rink. That is the true measure of a pro.
