Like many a medieval lady, she has upset the current king and is banged-up in a small place. Poor girl! Will she agree to toe the line? I doubt it; like many of her sisters, she has character and determination. Of course she might just be wondering if it's dinner time yet!

It's a 'mild' composite - she is cut-out just in order to easily treat the background and subject separately, and to easily remove any haloing that might occur. The bars are an addition too. Otherwise, it's pretty much as taken, treated in Lr and Ps ACR. She was in a very small restricted access area of a man-made grotto. Terribly dark - ISO 1000, f2.8, 1/80th sec. Please critique if you wish - and do you prefer with or without the bars. I think they make two separate pictures.

To me, the bars in the dark are detracting. I like the pensive look and the colors of the grotto so I go with #2. I guess that means I go with the dinner time question! Although her expression is one of questioning when/if she will leave.

It’s a “mild” composite. LOL, there is no such thing. I prefer without the bar. I find them mildly distracting. I can understand why you added them. But for me I am not sure they add to the image.

I feel the grotto is too colorful to be a jail, and besides, I want a happier story

In #2 we are able to imagine how she came to be in such an attractive but confined space, and what she is seeing (or thinking about). Love it!

Glancing down the comments I think you’ve started a trend Ellen! Most folk are going to agree with you and I understand why.
I can live with either knowing the other is available - that’s a sort of cheat isn’t it! Thanks for commenting.

Well, you know what I mean Frank, better than most in fact! I understand your point, the bars do get in the way a bit.
How’d that trip go, I’m surprised you’ve got the energy to be commenting!!

OK you old softie, have it your way!😁 Looks like you’re not alone, it’s sliding towards dumping the bars.
The grotto was quite an amazing place on the edge of a lake. I should have been back there today but wasn’t up to it! Pity but it’s just too warm - and the models were not as pre-Raphaelite as last year!!

I posted all my photo trips in FYI section. A total of one shot. I never left Newark Airport. We were there a total of twelve hours. We would have missed all of the London portion of the trip If we continued we would have only been there four days. It was a quickie tour. So it was nothing but a disaster.

I love a shot like this where we, the viewers, can furnish out own stories for the character, kind of like furnishing one when shown an ink blot 💓💓✨💓💓

Thanks Mike, that’s the general consensus of opinion by the look of it. In fact, I posted on the site for the group I shoot with and opinion was the same. The bars go!

Glad you like it Joe. I guess there must be several scenarios that might fit the image, I’ll leave you to decide which would be best.🤔
