On my way to Fountains Abbey last week and spotted this lone tree atop a ridge. So lonely I took a shot.
Played with the sliders a little to take out all sky details (it was a rubbish background anyway). Any thoughts?
Aways a fan of tree shots. I think this one would look great in black and white, too.
The lone tree shot are classic. I think since the sky is flat white, this image would work well in B/W.

Two correspondents have said they think this would look good in B&W. I had a quick go this morning and it wasn't working for me. I couldn't get the depth and contrast I wanted in the tree and grass.

Very nice. I like the simplicity of the subject.
I tried lightening the subject and applying a red filter.

Much better than I acheived this morning. You can just see cloud detail beginning to re-appear but not a problem.
Maybe I'll have another go to tomorrow. I'm all photoshopped out now.

Replace the sky if you don't like it. Is this by any chance the most photographed lone tree ever? The shot looks like many I have seen over the years.

I love both of your versions of this, John ⭐⭐🎯⭐⭐
I thought I would give it a shot on the B/W conversion. Did an overall adjustment to the photo. Converted it to B/W. Masked the sky and worked on with the sliders until i got this result. When I lightened the sky a bit I lost the couple of clouds on the left. I also did the same on the tree. I did this all in Lightroom
