When I started out in retail (for a short stint anyhow), the Mgr. of the store gave me an insight on how to progress:
Fill my pockets full of marbles, when I make a mistake or points, either one, pull out a marble. May take awhile.
When you've lost all your marbles, they make you Mgr.

Don’t invest your time looking for the hole. However it is much more important to pick up the marbles that have fallen out. The worst thing would be to slip on one of your marbles and break a hip. That is not good!
