My wife and I are on our second time through viewing the series Doc Martin. This time on Acorn TV. If you've never seen it, or all of it, since PBS didn't air the last 2-3 seasons, I highly recommend subscribing to Acorn if for no other reason than to watch an hour of Doc Marin each evening. You'll go to bed better for it.

So here they are. My top five and beyond.

Doc Martin.....Great cast, humor, drama, continuing story line, and a rolling cast of interesting characters. Must be watched to the end of the series.
Law and Order.....Great drama which stayed true and didn't become political
The Honeymooners.....The template for all comedy series to follow. Outstanding cast of characters.
Friends.....Better writing and continuity of story than Seinfeld
Seinfeld.....Much ado about nothing, which is the point, but continually, nothing. Friends progresses
Mary Tyler Moore Show.....Outstanding, outstanding casting
Dick VanDyke Show.....Where we first came to love Mary, another great cast

Ok, there were so many other great shows like The Twilight Zone, etc. These are my tops. My big point? Don't miss watching all 10 seasons of Doc Martin. It's one show that you can sit down with your wife or husband and enjoy together.

I watched all but Friends and Dick VanDyke regularly. Despite what some people say, TV offers some good entertainment and good information. I'll call Spectrum today and see if they can get me a good deal. I don't want to pay a streaming service and get commrcials.

As far as comedy goes, hard to beat the cast and cutups of Carol Burnette show. IMHO best lineup EVER !

We watch Poirot regularly. Excellent production. Miss Marple is great. NCIS, esp. in the early years was fantastic when they really had great casts and budgets. I'll hand it to Harmon, he's kept the show clean for its entire run. My Dad played football with his Dad at Michigan. My Dad was always proud of that fact. Tom Harmon was Michigan's first Heisman trophy winner and ESPN still ranks him as the 15th best college player of all time. Eighty years after he graduated.

You left out I Love Lucy, which deserves to be included with Carol Burnette.

If I expanded my list out to ten, I would have to include a couple of westerns at least. There are about four on my list to choose from: Gunsmoke, Rawhide, Wagon Train, Bonanza, and the Rifleman. The first two, I think, were my favorites. My Mom loved Wagon Train.

Everybody loved Dobie Gillis and, ofc, Thalia Meninger!!

I have never seen an episode of Friends or Seinfeld. Not my cup of tea. I agree about Doc Martin, though. It's great.

Two of my favorites haven't been mentioned - Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead. For comedy, I Love Lucy and Seinfeld, and non-fiction Top Chef and Battlebots.
