Canon Rumors posted that Canon was investigating partnering with a cell phone manufacturer... No comment from me as it would just be an uninformed opinion. Any hogs see any upside to any of this or only a FAR OUT rumor to get clickbait like this...?

I am indifferent. Most cameras are fine the way they are. Adding more to a phone is going to confuse most people. Besides the manual being impossible to read, the learning curve would be way past Saturn. I truly think that the major camera companies should make and price their cameras to be affordable with the general public.

Definitely a win for both Canon and the phone company. With Canon’s experience in camera and lens making it very well could be an advantage for the user as well depending on size, cost and how much more advanced the Canon camera/lens combo is to existing camera phones. It will be interesting to find out.

Well Sony has had partnerships with several smartphone makers for a long time, supplying the image sensors and mirrorless cameras for millions of smartphones around the world.

Apple's millions of top iPhones including its iPhone 15 series do have Sony image sensors and Sony mirrorless cameras in them .
Not surprising that Canon wants in on that huge market. But Sony and others wont just move over and let Canon take their smartphone partners without a fight.
Maybe Canon will start to make its own smartphones like Sony does with its Sony Xperia series of smartphones.
