A friend offered me an "extra" Buddy Guy ticket. He's performing in town next week. He's 86, but I had never heard of him. I looked him up online, and I accepted the offer of the ticket. The seats are in the front row. No, I won't be taking pictures. 😊

Buddy Guy is one of the most famous blues players in the history of the genre, and has influenced many guitarists in rock and blues bands for decades. He was a strong influence on Jeff Beck, and one of Jeff's favorite people to play with, live. I saw him about 48 years ago, in college. He was on a bill with Muddy Waters and B.B. King.

Take some hearing protection... Front row will be LOUD.

I've seen him a couple times, once opening for Jeff Beck, and he's not only a great musician but also a great entertainer. He's a little younger than the first wave of blues greats like B.B. King and Muddy Waters and was probably a bigger influence on blues/rock guitarists.

There are so many performers I've never heard of. Next time around, I'll be more observant.

Someone mentioned a group that named themselves after an insect - Ants? Bees? Beetles? Something like that. 🤣

I was working the night shift at a Ramada Inn, and Muddy Waters checked in, I knew who he was, of course, and he gave me an album.

I mentioned in Mark’s post that I had seen him a couple of times in Philadelphia. If you like The Blues you will enjoy Buddy Guy.

Here is an older live performance of Buddy Guy in 1994. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Z-UERWC254 I saw him back with in a few years of that at the Long Beach (CA) Blues Festival.
