This diminutive hummingbird is one of the most sought after photography targets of Costa Rica. Very small, lives in a narrow elevation range and often in the darkest portions of the rain forest. Secretive and an exposure nightmare. This is a Snowcap male hummingbird. This shot was taken in Tapir Valley Reserve, Costa Rica. Even at with 840 mm focal length, this image was cropped heavily (estimated 75%). Shot with an EC of -2.0, ISO of 5000 the body was more than 1.5 stops underexposed. Selected in ACR, shadows and exposure were brought up; BG and bird's white cap were brought down slightly. Topaz DeNoise AI was used.
