Last week, I received the legendary Vivitar (made by Komine) 135mm f2.8 Close Focusing lens. And it has been fun playing this old lens. I have had fun with the 1:2 macro capability with the 135mm FL which allows a longer working distance using my Sony bodies. No Autofocus with these old lenses.
But today, I put it on my Olympus EM1ii. With the x2 crop factor, this lens acted as a 270mm FL lens allowing a nice long working distance of about 3 or 4 feet in the following example images. And I did use a flash which allowed me to shoot at f8 and have a wider depth of field.
Nice shots. OMG long ago I had a Vivitar 400mm for my Nikon F. It was the best I could afford and I managed to take some good shots with it. I can't remember if it was an f5.6 or an f8

Beautiful shots! You mean you don't have to spend 2500.00 on a lens to get good results - ?! Who would have guessed?

Actually, I spent $50 plus shipping on it!
Someone didn't know what they were selling. Normally goes for $160-200.

Boy did you get a deal! That is known as robbery without a gun
Great shots
I also have the non-macro version of the Vivitar (made by Komine) 135mm f2.8 lens. And I thought I would try this lens to see how it would handle imaging a rose.
Image 1 is at my closest focus point, and you can see I did not get too close. Also forgot and left it at f2.8. Plus, this is a full frame Sony A7iii. No vignetting.
Image 2, I added two extension tubes for 26mm of extension. And I switched to f8. Notice that there is vignetting in the corners.
Image 3, reduced the extension to 10mm of extension and you can see the rose is smaller. A little less vignetting. But it is still there.
I will need to repeat this experiment with a crop sensor body, and I expect the vignetting to go away.

Changed to the Sony A6600, a 1.5x crop sensor. The vignetting problem went away. The crop factor makes the focal length seem longer, and the rose appears larger.
Image 1 - no extension tubes
Image 2 - 26mm of extension tubes
Image 3 - 10mm of extension tubes
Not quite as convenient as the macro version of the lens, but with extension tubes, is working OK
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Ketchup and mustard rose but all these images are beautiful!
