Dear friends,
I’m sorry to say that because of some health issues, I have been unable to make my usual videos. Happily, I am on the road to recovery, and my videos will return as soon as possible! Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Dear Ben:
Every now and then, we find ourselves challenged. These moments test us and prove to ourselves we are all worthy. Please get well!

Sorry you’ve been ill. Look forward to your return.

Dear Ben:
I have a true story that shall make you chuckle.
About two an a half years ago, I wasn’t myself. My wife was concerned that my eating was far from my usual self. Even carrying my camera bag became very heavy. What does a body and four lenses weigh?
She scheduled me for an endoscopy. The day of the exam, the doctor, an old friend, told me he wasn’t going to do the procedure. I was breathing too heavy. He scheduled me for a sonogram of my heart. I heard a murmur that was very prominent. They scheduled me for an echo and heart surgery.
I was rushed to the hospital and had emergency open heart surgery. Wait…What? I didn’t have a chance to think about it. A short time before this I rattled off to my wonderful wife, about some things and when it was my turn to meet The
L-RD, it will be a cold, rainy day on Earth. We are going to have a lot of things to discuss and perhaps argue about. It was raining and unusually cold that day. My wife thought I was going to be toast.
Open heart surgery was done and I had a subacute bacterial endocarditis caused by a dental implant. The doctor put in a cow valve rather than a mechanical valve. He said he would rather hear me “moo” every few words rather than hear the “click-clack” of a mechanical valve. I also don’t want to be on Coumadin for the rest of my life. (I am a pharmacist and know all about it!) I awoke in the ICU. As I lay there nurses would come in and ask me if I wanted any pain meds. I said NO! Doctor had come in as well and asked if I wanted pain meds was well. I had also said NO! They asked me why I wasn’t in pain. Really just wanting to rest, I said, “people from my planet don’t have pain.” They looked at each other and walked out of the room and let me rest.
Being a cranky old Scoutmaster, I always believed “Pain is weakness leaving the body.”
I do hope you feel better and chuckle every now and then thinking of this when you are not feeling your best!
Looking forward to more of your thoughts.
