Interesting. I shoot flowers often but have more DOF at the flower itself, say f/8, f/11 and leave the background out of focus.

For one flower I often shoot at f/2.8 or f/4. For a group I generally go with f/11 or wider.
That's a really nice shot of the single flower and I like the background!

Very nice shot! Interesting to me that this was shot at ISO 1000. Just thinking back, not too many years, when ISO 1000 would never have been used because of the digital or film "Grain". Now we have cameras that can make very acceptable images at ISO 10,000, and above.

Nice example of selective focus to isolate your subject from the background.

On a side note: your thumbnail is flat and you can only see the your vibrant colors when you download the image. I noticed that your color_space is 'uncalibrated' and your icc_profile is 'prophoto RGB'. Websites, including UHH, display images in sRGB. In the future, I would suggest exporting your final images as sRGB. Then your thumbnails will be just as vibrant as your download.

Missed a step? My current workflow is:
Shoot in ProPhoto.
Process.
Final step under Photoshop "Edit" I "convert to profile" sRGB.
Lastly either save as or save a copy to keep the Exif data.
I must've miss the convert to profile step.

Absolutely gorgeous without downloading. The shallow depth of field and precise focus are perfect for this image.

If you like that one you will like the downloaded version even more.
