Laowa Macro lens

I recently purchased a Laowa 25mm F2.8 Ultra Macro 5X and did these test pictures. The lens was set at F16 and mounted on a Canon R5, with a improvised macro rig.
Later this summer, after I work out the kinks, I plan to try focus stacking with it.

Hi Curmugeon,
Thanks. I want to fix it so I can rotate and move the bugs easily into position.

Why don't you drop Sippyjug a PM and ask him for suggestions. Just a thought

Yhyup, that is the lens alright! I love my copy of it.
It really shines for focus stacking, but it helps to use it at f/6 or f/8 where it's sharper.

This is a great lens. I usually use this lens @f2.8 or f4 with stacking to prevent diffraction losses in resolution.

Remember the marked f numbers are the the infinity focus values. @ 5x the apertures are much smaller.

Keep up the good work.

See table 2a in the link to learn about appropriate apertures to avoid diffraction effects.

I discovered (probably the last one to do so) that this Laowa lens will mount on both a Canon R5 and a Canon 5D Mk4 bodies. There is no electrical connection and the magnification is different, but it works.
