A great photo. I toured Gillette Castle many years ago.
Wikipedia has an image of the library. Very posh.

Located in East Haddam CT and part of a 184 acre state park. The castle was built by William Gillette an actor, playwright and director. It took 20 men 5 years (1914-1919) to complete. All interior woodwork is made from hand
hewn white oak. It has 47 oak doors, no two alike.
Been there a number of times. The doors each have custom made hardware that is supposedly unique for each door.
For those who have called it "ugly" the photo included doesn't really portray the structure well, not that it's a bad picture, it's just a wide angle shot from one particular angle.
The terrace behind the castle overlooks the Connecticut River and nearby to the castle is a small stone train station for the small gage railroad that encircled the property. There is a trail surrounding the property that features paving stones which still contain black tourmaline crystals.
I was there on Halloween one year and there was a couple in Victorian era costume, obviously volunteers or staff members. The man was dressed as Sherlock Holmes which was Gillette's most famous role as an actor.

Mr Gillette had plenty of $$ - most famously from playing Sherlock Holmes back in the day. I think I recall he was of smaller stature than one might expect - and so tended to overdo things in compensation - hence construction of his castle (which I went through as a kid - living in a small town to the south-west) - and remember the doors and ceilings were smaller than I would have expected. I'd like to say I remember more about the innards - but can only imagine they were pretty posh for the time. Images posted on Wikipedia - below is the library. NOT too shabby !!
