Reading Jerry post about "Highway Hack" it seems the term "Hack" used to mean chopping something or accessing other computers or network to modify or steal information.
Now the term "Hack" is used for everything. I quite dislke the term hack used when someone modified something to make it work in a different way.

Actually, the term hacker was originally used to mean anyone who made changes to a program. Early hackers were proud of their skills. Later, when the term became widely used by non-programmers, it morphed into its currently negative connotation.

I actually dislike the term when it's used for positive connotation like "40 hacks you should know", " 200 Incredible Life Hacks That Make Life So Much Easier".

Not the original meaning. I used the term hacker to describe idle kids with nothing important to do. That was before computers were available to anyone beyond the very advanced mathematicians, in the '40s and early '50s. As noted by others above, this appears to have been regional usage.

There was a lengthy thread on here about what a great place new york city is but I think Jerry's post did a much better job of actually describing what New York is like than the apologists on the NYC post did.

Said thread did not come from me. NYC was not my cup of scotch. I prefer MA, but not cities.

I lived near NYC for 6 years. I went into NYC twice in that time. It was too often.

I believe that Jerry was trying to point out that some people driving are basically the most inconsiderate slobs on the planet and only care about themselves. It is very difficult to find someone of integrity and who is courteous. For the most part, these selfish clods should get a smack on their behind from their parents to learn respect.

The dictionary has the alternate definition as breaking into software to change the code. How about a taxi driver? How about a bad doctor? Not liking the alternative definitions of words will result in changing the definition. How about the terms woke people are using? How about people choosing what sex they are referred to?
