I'm finishing my project on the Toms River. At the end of this month the project is going to end. I'm processing the images I have thus far and will be going through the process of picking the shots I want in the final collection. Today I added these entries. The first one is an ultra wide angle view of the Island Heights waterfront. The lamp post on the left was turned off, so I had to use a bit of Vivesa magic to get it turned back on. I like the fisheye perspective for this scene. The second shot is interesting primarily because a week ago the piles had a dock on them. It was a very dilapidated dock that did need to be removed; but it was there and now it is not. These are the kinds of contrasts that interest me in this project to see how a select area changes in the course of one year.

A good capture of different moods of the place. I find the curved lamppost in #1 a bit too much, perhaps you see it as part of the fisheye look.

I actually like the way fisheye lenses can distort the daylights out of a scene. I try to use them sparingly; and I do absolutely understand why people would not like the effect. You do have to keep in mind that it can be overused. Additionally, this particular fisheye is rectangular and not circular. So, if you keep your camera level, it eliminated a lot of the distortion and you just get a very wide rectangular image. Thanks for taking a look and commenting.

#2 is very appealing, Erich!

Thank you. I had to take that shot because just last week it was a dock. It was in bad shape; but it was a dock. It does into the collection for Toms River.

Love that lamppost Erich! You’ve got to keep it in your collection for sure.
I have enjoyed your shots, Erich. Nice work.
I have had a fisheye lens for over a year now, but I have never gotten around to using it. I need to do that.
Your second shot reminds me of what you would see walking along the Westside highway in NYC.
Beautiful Erich. I too like the second one, the curved lamp post is just too much for me
I too like the lamppost Erich.

The lamp post takes over the whole picture as I view it. It makes the picture interesting but not something I would hang on the wall. The second picture is very good. I like the still water. Is this a long exposure image? This one I could see on the wall.

It is not everyone's cup of tea; but the lamppost stays. I do like that kind of shot.

I agree that you must use it from time to time. Remember that it can produce more "normal" shots if you keep the camera level. Raise or lower the camera from level and things get a bit funky. It is a lot of fun even if you don't get many keepers.

Or Dumbo (a part of Brooklyn for those who don't know NYC) if you didn't have Manhattan. lol
Dumbo is an acronym( Down Under The Manhattan Bridge Overpass) which is a very photogenic area of New York City.
