The egret nests are behind the branches of the trees, so they are very hard to see.
This nest is closer to the front, so you can see some of them

Thank you. I wish that I could tell you that I worked for days to get the photo, but that is not the case.

There is a lagoon near me, where the egrets have been coming for many years. It is in a residential area. Not many trees, but there are a few. They have killed several trees that they were roosting in, they like to pull out all the branches and they defecate all over. Not good for trees. Many of the trees have been removed in the past two years, and the trees left are very dense. So you can't see them very well at all. I was lucky to get this picture, although it isn't very good. With the old trees, there were a lot more egrets and they were a lot easier to see. I may have to go back into my archives.

Egrets are a difficult subject because of blown out highlights. You captured some feather details. Great!

Nicely done, topcat. Egrets can be hard to photograph. It's easy to blow the highlights.

I don't know how much you travel to get your shots but if you want rookery shots of herons and egrets try Audubon Canyon Ranch. It's just north of Stinson Beach on Hwy 1

Thank you. In the sun it is very difficult.

Thank you. I looked it up. There is a lot of nature there, not just egrets.
