There is the possibility that pnerd is trying to do his fellow photographers a favor. $4350 is just a bit more than you would have to pay in San Francisco county (fair trade + tax) and actually less than you will pay in many other CA counties (10%+ in sales tax). The main advantage is that you have the Z8 NOW. Remember those outrageous Z9 prices for the first few weeks? He did make the offer pending his return of the item, so that clearly is an option for him.
Of course, finding a buyer willing to forego the warranty and show up with that amount of cash, is yet another matter.
Awaiting an update from pnerd.

My thoughts?
If you want to run with the big dogs maybe get off the porch and be pro-active in exposing precisely what your feelings are here for the benefit of other naive UHH members...

Though please be entirely honest, sincere and thoughtful if you do decide to leave feedback for pnerd
All the best to each and everyone (including pnerd) on your photographic journey

I've bought and sold many items here at UHH, Thomas, and I'd like to see that it remains on the up and up, just as I'm sure you would. I've seen your items for sale and know that you are a straight shooter and maintain a high level of credibility. I normally keep my mouth shut about anything that anyone has for sale because I know that I wouldn't want anyone trash-talking me. I hate to see anyone get scammed though, and this sure seems like a scam. $400 over retail with no warranty...and joining the forum the same day.

This sounds a little like...

"Let's meet up! You bring $4350 cash... I'll bring a gun and a friend with a getaway car. We'll be happy to take that cash off your hands."

Hello good folks. Looks like I have kicked up a bit of a hornet's nest with my just-joined and posting-an-expensive-camera for sale. I tried to post on dpreview.com but for whatever reason the posting hasn't gone through though I've had an account there for many years.

I am an actual normal human living in San Francisco. I can return the camera but since they seem to be sold out, I thought I would save the hassle of shipping it back and burning of jet fuel.

I am happy to have a call or meet in person to show the camera and receipt to anyone. Even willing to take the Turing Test in case anyone things I'm an AI chatbot. I understand this might not work for a remote sale since it will be difficult to establish trust.

You better off return it. Get your money back and we can buy the same camera as refurbished for less and yet have 90 days warranty.

What’s the problem? He says he prefers a local sale. At least you can check it out and get the serial # to run a check. He might even send you a pic of it if you ask. If the price is too high just ignore the ad or ask the op if he is open to offers. Nice welcome to UHH.
You will notice I don’t ask a lot of questions on here. There is a reason why.

You will have to understand the nature of the timing vis-a-vis the negative publicity. Do yourself a favor and get a refund. Also when selling here, be sure to add in whether it is a USA model or Gray-Market item.

Why someone would want your Z8 for $4350 while they can get their for $3999 and with warranty? Yours won't have warrantly as Nikon doesn't allow transfering the warranty to second owner.
Just return it and you get your $3999 back and we have a refurbished to buy for less than that.

He is just trying to recover his San Francisco sales tax.

If you return the camera to where you bought it you would get the sales tax back. And as I said, doing so he would get one of the Z8 to go into Nikon refurbished inventory.

I just don't understand why someone would want to pay $4350 for the Z8 and no warranty?

And why is the box unopened? Who buys something and doesn't open the box?
Most warranties need you to register it but requires you to have a receipt. I would stay away. Why not return to orginal sore,

Folks,

I just called Samy's Camera, Saturday June 3rd at 10:45 am, and was informed that the Samy's Camera store in San Francisco has been closed and that the Los Angeles store for a Nikon Z8 is backordered, ...maybe 1–2-month delivery time.

Why pay $4,350 for a Nikon Z8 body, newest Nikon mirrorless camera, ...immediate "want".
