The Buckley Old Engine Show is set to be this August 17-20. Buckley is located about 25 miles south of Traverse City, MI. It is held on farmland with no city services around. Everything comes in on wheels. The swap meet is one of the biggest in existence. Tractors are every where doing many different tasks. Both young kids and old foogies are riding all over the grounds on big tractors, slow tractors, quite tractors, tiny tractors and more tractors than one can imagine. For four days this show is the tractor capital of the free world. At most theme shows patrons ride around in golf carts, not here! If it's moving it is either a tractor or something a tractor is pulling. If ever a machine comes alive it is in this show. Tractor-mania is supreme! A photographer's paradise.
At one point I had prepared to go to Buckley with my 4x5 camera and do B&W "portraits" of the steam tractors and their care takers. I had enough film holders loaded to shoot 50 pictures.
Alas, COVID hit and I haven't been able to fit Buckley back into the schedule. Love the old engine show at Buckley.

Flywheelers in Fort Meade, Florida is an amazing tractor and old engines show. I was able to attend one when we had our house in Fort Myers. I'll see if I can dig up some pictures I took.
If you like old steam engines, check out the Threshermen's Reunion in Kinzers, PA. They have dozens and dozens of steam-powered traction engines along with all sorts of other very interesting machines. Park in a field and ride on a trailer behind a farm tractor to the gate. Lunch served by Amish ladies. Don't miss the noon whistle when all the engines simultaneously blow their whistles! Very, very loud. Link on this page-

For some reason this post reminded me of a Playboy shoot in the 70's. Multiple pics of a beautiful woman sitting on a tractor from the front, side, back, etc. The centerfold was just the tractor.
