It's spring plowing season in Glacier and here are a few shots of the guys plowing this famous road. If you have ever driven this road...these will give new meaning to just how much work it takes to open it up. Lots of snow up there this year, I am hoping to be able to drive the road the first day it's open.

Disclaimer: I did not take these shots, these are from the GNP website and from a friend of mine that plows the road

Looks perilous to me. The shots are very nice, just not the job.

Yes they have but no casualties! Which is amazing for how steep it is.

Thats a lot of work going on!!
I was expecting Snow blowers, wow, having had a 455 JD highlift sliding sideways on hill side on wet dirt I don't know if I would operate a machine that size on snow.

Here in New Hampshire, they make a big deal out of clearing the Mount Washington Auto Road, every spring. I've driven the Going to the Sun Road and while Mount Washington boasts some pretty bad snow storms along with holding the record for the fastest wind speed ever recorded, I can appreciate Glacier's challenge clearing a much longer road at a much higher altitude.

We visited the park in June or July a few years ago. The road was closed because of the snow. Beautiful place to visit.
