The Moses Cone Memorial Park is an approximately 3500 acre homesite developed by Moses Cone for he and his family. Cone made a fortune in the textile industry and came to be known as the " Denim King ". Around 1903, he built a 13,000 square foot home on the estate. Cone had a unique hobby. He loved to build roads and trails.
The estate has about 25 miles of carriage roads and hiking trails are all over the place. Among other features, he created two large lakes.
One of the lakes is named Bass Lake. The walk around the perimeter of the lake is approximately one mile in length. Over the years, I've made this walk many, many times. This past Fall, the leaf colors in the area were extraordinarily beautiful. This picture shows one small section of the walk.
Why don't you tell everybody where it is??

Near Blowing Rock, NC, west of Winston Salem.

Well, since you've asked twice I guess I better fess up.
Truth is, I just forgot to do that. It's on the outskirts of Blowing Rock, N.C. The Blue Ridge Parkway runs right through the estate. It is likely the most visited site along the entire 469 miles of the Parkway.
Revolution Mill (built by Moses Cone) is here in Greensboro. It has now been turned into condos, restaurants and offices. The main hospital in town is named after him.
