Focused Stacked Image of a Fly's Calypter

This is a focused stacked image of the calypter of a bottle fly. They are located under the fly's wing and they cover the halteres. The halteres are small "club-shaped paddles" that oscillate rapidly along with the wings and operate like vibrating structure gyroscopes that keep the fly stable in flight.

Thanks, Architect1776. I enjoy seeing the small things around me and sharing them with others. I add a bit of narrative at times to help others learn about what it is they may be looking at.
