Brass 58mm Reversing Ring

I am looking for a 58mm reversing ring to connect the rear end of a 50mm Canon prime lens to a Canon 100mm macro lens. I have an aluminium reversing ring, but have the problem of galling. I have searched the Internet and can find plenty of reversing rings, but none made of brass. Both lenses require a 58mm thread. Does anyone know where I can purchase a brass one?

Nothing wrong with aluminum ones , just lube the treads .

Perhaps a bit more care?
So far galling has never been an issue.
Sometimes a bit of binding but a filter wrench or bottle lid remover solves that
Just be careful.

Try coating it with T9 lubricant it dries and protects

This has always worked for me. Place the palm of your hand over the front of the lens pressing in and rotate.

This puts more even pressure in the ring and avoids warping the ring which causes it to bind. Then clean any glass as needed,

Not sure which you want: a ring with 58 mm male filter threads on both sides, or a ring with 58 mm male filter threads on one side and a canon lens mount (lens or body?) on the other side.

A).The former would connect two lenses nose to nose.

B). Of The latter, the 58 mm to lens mount is typically a reversing ring allowing a lens to be connected backwards to a camera.

C.)But it sounds like you want the last option, a ring with a 58 mm filter thread ( to go on the 100 mm macro) and a Canon body mount on the other side to accept the lens mount (rear end) on the 50 mm.

I’ve never seen one like ‘C’ before but it should be something you could get Grimes to make for you. For that matter. Grimes should be able to make the others for you as well.

It would be a male-to-male 58mm thread. I have a pile of various threaded adapters to fit this lens to that lens, and I think they are all aluminum. If you must have brass, I think it will need to be a fairly expensive lens filter with the glass knocked out of it. That would be male-to-female, but you could work out a way to fit them together to be male-to-male.

That is probably a male 58 mm to female 62, on the first ring. The second would be male 62 mm with a female 58. Still not the male-male combo.

But you have an interesting idea. Use the 58 to 62 step up, and with some epoxy glue in the female side of a 58 mm filter— With glass removed. That leaves male threads exposed on both sides, and some great bonding area for the epoxy as the 58 mm female side filter sits inside the 62 mm female side. Now just find the parts in brass.
