One century ago Mexico City's (Federal District) was about one million, now it is 8.855 million. No way can that many people be evacuated if Popo explodes. Another argument for birth control, love yes, babies no.

Some 25 million people live in a 60-mile radius of the volcano, which is about 45 miles southeast of Mexico City and located between the states of Morelos, Puebla and state of Mexico. If it explodes there will be a lot of dead people but let us hope for the best.

As the Earth slowly cools, all of that magma in the core has to go somewhere. The volcanos are the outlet . They are obviously more numerus along fault lines, hence the Ring of Fire around the Pacific Rim.
