I finally got back into travel mode last week. I travelled from home (Texas) through New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, and Idaho. This first series was taken between Albuquerque, NM and Green River, UT. I hit it lucky the whole trip, with photogenic clouds everywhere. It rained at least a little every day I travelled. I think these show that it is not difficult to get good photographs without entering a designated state/national park (although I did hit some of those also. Note: you now have to have an appointment to enter Arches.)

Nice!! I really like the last one!! Those ominous skies #1, #2, #6 and #7 really make the rock formations stand out.

Thank you. As I said, I was lucky with the weather this trip. It rained a lot. Not something you would hear a tourist say often.

Photographers aren't ordinary tourists. We see the world differently and look for opportunities to capture with our photos. Rain isn't an obstacle....it's a different take of the photo!!
